"Manufacturer of quality machined parts
to industry since 1962"
Willard Tool has been in continuous operation since 1962. Over our 50 years of business we have provided machining services to a wide range of industries including energy, robotics, biotech, defense, semiconductor, entertainment and food processing.
Throughout the years we have worked hard to develop a reputation for quality and integrity, focusing on solid, long term business relationships which bring the greatest benefit to both our customers and ourselves.
Personally, I have over forty years industry experience, including knowledge of materials, pricing, subcontractors, and technology which will be at your disposal
as a valued customer of Willard Tool & Grinding.
Rick Willard, President
Willard Tool & Grinding was founded in Hayward California by Paul Willard. Paul Willard grew up on an Illinois farm during the Depression. He joined the US Navy during World War II learning the machinist trade during his service. After the war Mr. Willard became a form tool grinder in the San Francisco Bay Area working for several firms before starting his own company. Initially a form tool and grinding enterprise the scope of Willard Tool's work grew over the decades to include mill, lathe, and screw machine work for the computer, medical, electronic, and aerospace industries.
In 1984 Willard Tool merged with R. Willard Manufacturing, a cnc production shop. It's owner, Rick Willard (Paul's son), took over as president and began expanding the corporation.
Advances in communications and freight services enabled the company to transfer its base of operation to Shasta County in 1990. The move resulted in reduced overhead without loss of "next door" service.
In 2007 Willard Tool moved into a new 10,000 square foot plant located just one mile north of the Redding Municipal Airport and adjacent to the future Stillwater Business Park.
The expansion has given us room to grow, add new machines to the floor, continue to upgrade existing equipment, and provide a more comfortable working environment for our valued employees.
Willard Tool, now entering it's third generation of ownership, is focused on lean manufacturing, increased automation, and industry standardization.
